About

The House

The original house dates to the 1830s and was extended in the 1880s to include a second storey. Called "The Firs", it was occupied by Irma Stern for almost four decades. Several of the rooms and studio are furnished as she arranged them. The upstairs area has been converted into a commercial gallery for exhibitions by contemporary South African artists.
