1910August, visit Victoria Falls
December, travel to Europe on the Admiral via East Coast, settle in Berlin.

Union of South Africa

19121 November, Irma Stern commences formal art studies in Berlin.
19134 April, enters the Weimar Academy under Carl Fritjof Smith.
August- December, Sterns visit South Africa.
On 6 December, return to Germany on Edinburgh Castle.
1914Studies under Martin Brandenburg (1870-1919) at Levin-Funcke studio in Berlin. Later returns to Weimer to study under Gari Melchers.

World War One (1914-1918)

1916Paints first major work The eternal child. Becomes acquainted with Expressionist artist, Max Pechstein (1881-1955)
1918May, two works accepted by Freie Sezession, Berlin.

9 November revolution in Berlin 3 December, Novembergruppe established in Berlin. Irma Stern becomes a founder member.

1919May-June, Irma Stern exhibition at Fritz Gurlitt Gallery, Berlin.
Begins her journal: Paradise 1919-1924
