Stanley Hermans exhibition

Works on Paper

1 - 29 April 2017

Opening: 1 April at 11am

Stanley Hermans returns to the Irma Stern Museum for his third solo exhibition there, an intimate cabinet of recent observational drawings, curated by Christopher Peter, in ink and Japanese brush, pen and gouache.

These little gems of keen, sensitive observation, a glimpse into the studio-painter's thinking, reveals quite a different, less invulnerable side to the artist, better known for bolder statements in oil. Even here though, Hermans is not too far away from pithy social comment, with titles like 'Here's That Rainy Day'.
Christopher Peter, Director, The Irma Stern Museum

An additional cabinet of brush and ink drawings by Irma Stern will complement the show.
